What is the Nando’s Peri Peri Chicken?

Once you try our Nando’s version of Peri Peri Chicken you’ll ditch the actual Nando’s. And it’s also very easy to freeze.

All you’ll need is to prepare our homemade Peri Peri Sauce and marinate the chicken a few hours before. Actually, the recipe works well with both chicken thighs and fillets, tofu, or fish.

Once the chicken is marinated then pan-fry, bake, or grill! I prefer to pan-fry with a little olive oil, especially when using breasts but you can also grill chicken thighs or wings in a barbeque as an appetizer when you have guests. I assure you that if you find the right ingredients and try them out the result will be amazing.

I can’t resist Peri Peri Chicken wings and they’re an absolute winner.

Normally I cook it using chicken breasts, especially for busy weekdays to eat a healthy meal in 15 minutes, Since the sauce is really easy to prepare I find it an amazing recipe to prepare in the evening and then cook it the next day after leaving the chicken to marinade in the refrigerator.

How to Make Homemade Nando’s Chicken?

  • Prepare the Peri Peri sauce
  • Cut the chicken breasts horizontally into 8 pieces
  • Marinade the chicken in the peri peri sauce. You can marinade it in advance a few hours before, overnight, or just cook it right away.
  • Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add olive oil
  • Cook the chicken slowly getting a nice sear for 3 minutes, then flip over and do the same with the other side.
  • Then turn the heat to low and allow the chicken to cook for about 2 more minutes.
  • Enjoy!

NOTES

  • You can marinate chicken but also use the peri peri sauce to marinate the grilled veggies, fish, or tofu.
  • If you can’t find African bird’s eye chili, you can swap it for any spicy peppers you can find. Thai chilis work great or red serrano peppers but even cayenne.
  • Unless you want it very spicy, always make sure to take out the seeds from the peppers.
  • You can pan-fry this chicken, bake it or grill it. Nevertheless, it will taste amazing!
