Oranges in Cointreau

Oranges in Cointreau, a tasty combination of aromas and flavours are incorporated in this recipe and without lots of effort provides an excellent treat or dessert at the end of your meal.  These cointreau oranges are delicious and so simple to prepare! 

This dessert gives a luxurious touch to your meal.

Oranges in Cointreau Ingredients (3 people)

For this dessert all you need is to add the orange liqueur and some sugar to the vitamin-rich and refreshing orange. You hardly need to use any utensils to prepare it apart from a knife for cleaning the orange and plates to serve it. And the best thing is that success is guaranteed!

2 oranges

3 1/2 tbsp sugar

1/4 cup water

3-4 tbsp Cointreau liqueur

Red fruits (optional)

Oranges in Cointreau Preparation

  1. Wash the oranges well, place them on a cutting board
  2. Peel and de-pith the oranges by first slicing the top and bottom off of the orange. Cut deep enough into the orange to unveil the flesh.
  3. Set the orange on its flat top or bottom and slicing off the peel around the orange. Use downward motions move along the curve of the edge between the orange pith and the flesh leaving small pieces of pith at first
  4. Then you can trim the remaining pith until it is completely peeled, without a trace of skin.
  5. Cut it into not very thick slices and place them beautifully on a dessert plate or a platter.
  6. Put the water in a pan together with the sugar over low heat and stir until the sugar has dissolved and then turn off the heat and
  7. Add the cointreau.
  8. Sprinkle the oranges with the hot liquor syrup ensuring it is evenly distributed. 
  9. Decorate with a few red fruits: raspberries, blueberries
  10. Serve and enjoy.

Tips & tricks:

This dessert can be served individually in small plates or in a bowl and then plated for each diner.

You can prepare them in advance, adding the syrup with the liquor and then put them in the fridge.

You can also optionally add coffee to the liquor syrup.

Decorate with the red fruits that you like : currants, blueberries, raspberries or strawberries. Alternatively you can also add some chopped nuts.
