Why You’ll Like It
- Diet-friendly – it’s great if you’re losing weight and want to include pizza in your diet without hindering all your efforts. It’s good for Weight Watchers, keto, noom, low-carb, low-fat and a whole list.
- Tortillas are easy to make homemade – Make your tortilla healthier and easy. Try this buckwheat tortilla recipe.
- Greek yogurt or cottage cheese is what makes it heartier. If you get used to it you’ll forget all the other cheese toppings.
For The Perfect Tuna Tortilla Pizza
-
Drain the Tuna: Thoroughly drain all the water from the tuna. I prefer canned tuna in spring water, but this step is the same if you’re using tuna in brine or oil.
-
Prepare the Onions: Finely chop the onions, or slice them into thin rounds for a different texture.
- Tortilla: Make sure that the tortilla is not too thin or too small.
What You Need
- Tortilla: Use a thick whole wheat or corn tortilla. Alternatively, a wholemeal wrap works well too.
- Flavorings: Olive oil, tomato puree, and Greek yogurt. Use 1 tsp of extra virgin olive oil.
- Aromatics, Herbs & Spices: Garlic powder, onion, basil leaves, and dried oregano add a subtly spicy kick to the pizza.
- Toppings: Canned tuna in spring water and sweetcorn (frozen, canned, or fresh) complete the dish.
Storing The Tuna Tortilla Pizza
- Leftovers: Keep leftover tortilla pizza in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- Reheating: Reheat in an oven or air fryer at 180°C (350°F) for 5-7 minutes until crispy. Avoid microwaving, as it can make the tortilla soggy.
Saving the Tuna Tortilla Pizza For Later
This pizza can be enjoyed warm or cold, making it a great grab-and-go lunch. You can also fold it in half and eat it like a sandwich for easy handling. Pair with a light salad or roasted veggies for a balanced meal.
