Ingredients
For the Patties
- ½ lb 225g organic ground turkey or grass-fed ground beef organic ground turkey
- 2 egg
- 2 clove garlic minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Mushroom “Bun”
- 4 large Portobello mushrooms
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 garlic clove minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Prepare the patties:
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix everything thoroughly. Form the mixture into 2 patties.
Cook the patties:
- Heat a grill or sauté pan with a bit of coconut or olive oil. Cook the patties for about 4 minutes per side or until they’re done to your preference.
Prepare the mushroom “buns”:
- Remove the stems from the Portobello mushrooms and rinse and dry them well.
- Coat the mushrooms with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Place them in a hot sauté pan or on the grill. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side, until the mushrooms are soft and tender.
Assemble the burgers:
- Place the cooked patties on top of the Portobello mushrooms, creating an open-faced “burger.” If desired, add sliced tomatoes and lettuce for extra flavor and crunch.
