Description

Did you know? One cup of Portobello mushrooms contains 15 different minerals, vitamins, and phytonutrients—making them an incredible anti-inflammatory option! This tasty twist on a classic burger replaces the usual inflammatory white bread with nutrient-dense Portobello mushrooms. It’s a low-carb, high anti-inflammatory alternative to the traditional hamburger bun!

Ingredients

For the Patties

  • ½ lb 225g organic ground turkey or grass-fed ground beef organic ground turkey
  • 2 egg
  • 2 clove garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Mushroom “Bun”

  • 4 large Portobello mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 garlic clove minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the patties:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix everything thoroughly. Form the mixture into 2 patties.

Cook the patties:

  • Heat a grill or sauté pan with a bit of coconut or olive oil. Cook the patties for about 4 minutes per side or until they’re done to your preference.

Prepare the mushroom “buns”:

  • Remove the stems from the Portobello mushrooms and rinse and dry them well.
  • Coat the mushrooms with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Place them in a hot sauté pan or on the grill. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side, until the mushrooms are soft and tender.

Assemble the burgers:

  • Place the cooked patties on top of the Portobello mushrooms, creating an open-faced “burger.” If desired, add sliced tomatoes and lettuce for extra flavor and crunch.

Serve & enjoy:

  • Serve your Portobello mushroom burgers immediately and enjoy the delicious, nutrient-packed alternative to a traditional burger!

Recipe Notes:

  • Portobello mushrooms are low in carbohydrates and packed with anti-inflammatory compounds, making them an excellent choice for those looking to reduce inflammation while still enjoying a tasty, satisfying meal.
  • This recipe is a healthy, low-carb, and nutrient-dense twist on a classic favorite, perfect for those seeking a lighter burger option without sacrificing flavor!
