Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 1 small yellow onion diced
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 12 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Hot sauce to taste
  • 2 1/2 cups grated mild Cheddar
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a generously sized skillet over medium-high heat until the oil reaches a desired temperature
  • Add the ground beef, garlic, bell pepper, and onion to the skillet.
  • Sprinkle the mixture with chili powder, salt, and pepper to season.
  • Cook, breaking up the beef as it cooks until it reaches a fully cooked state, which should take approximately 6 to 8 minutes.
  • Add the beef broth, macaroni, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, and hot sauce into the skillet.
  • Stir thoroughly to ensure all the ingredients are well combined and allow the mixture to come to a simmer.
  • Cover the skillet and let it cook until the macaroni softens, and the sauce achieves a desirable thickness, which will typically take around 9 to 10 minutes.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat source.
  • Add the cheese and gently stir until it melts and blends into the mixture.
  • Serve your dish with a garnish of fresh parsley.
