  • 225 g/8oz butter cubed plus extra for greasing
  • 6 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 75 g/3oz dark chocolate broken into pieces
  • 500 g/1lb 2oz digestive biscuits roughly crushed to nut-sized pieces
  • 4 chocolate-coated honeycomb bars 32g each, cut into bite-sized pieces

Instructions

  • Grease and line a 30x23cm/12x9in traybake tin with baking paper.
  • Place the milk chocolate, butter, and syrup in a large heatproof bowl.
  • Set the bowl over a pan of simmering water and gently heat, stirring until the ingredients are melted and well combined.
  • Place the dark chocolate in a separate small heatproof bowl and set the bowl over a pan of simmering water until the chocolate melts.
  • Add the crushed biscuits to the milk chocolate mixture and fold together until the biscuits are well coated.
  • Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin, ensuring an even layer.
  • Sprinkle the honeycomb bar pieces over the top and press down firmly.
  • Drizzle the melted dark chocolate in a zigzag pattern over the honeycomb layer.
  • Chill the traybake in the fridge for about 2 hours until it becomes firm. Once set, slice the traybake into 24 squares for serving.

Notes

  • Use a good-quality chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
  • To crush the biscuits, place the biscuits in a ziplock bag and use a rolling pin to crush them to the desired size.
  • Add your favorite nuts, such as almonds or hazelnuts, to enhance the nutty crunch.
