Mary Berry Fruit Scones Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz flour self-raising
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 oz butter softened
  • 1 oz caster sugar
  • 2 oz mixed dried fruit
  • 1 egg large
  • ΒΌ cup milk

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven at 220C.
  • Grease 2 baking trays or cover the trays with baking paper.
  • Sieve the flour and baking flour in a large bowl.
  • Add the butter rubbing it in with you fingertips.
  • Keep on rubbing until the mixture looks like crunchy breadcrumbs
  • Now rub in the sugar together with the dried fruit.
  • Pour the egg and add around 1/4 cup milk paying attention to fill a little more than half a cup (approximately 3/5 cup)
  • Stir the egg and milk mixture together with the flour mixture and mix into a soft dough
  • Dust the surface with some flour, knead lightly and roll out leaving dough thick around 1/2 inch.
  • Using a cutter, cut into 2 inches circles and place on the baking trays.
  • Bake for around 10 minutes or until the mary berry fruit scones start getting brownish.
  • Take out the baked scones and put them into a wire rack to cool.
  • Serve with Strawberry Jam, whipping cream or however you prefer the scones.
